Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell was employed as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In Washington she was made general reporter by NBC News two year later. In 1981, she began covering for the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell was a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy issues, such as the weapons control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to many summits with the help of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
